"Neighborhood Watch"
Nobody appointed these three. No badges were issued, no oath was sworn. They simply decided, somewhere around naptime, that the neighborhood needed watching and that they were exactly the pups for the job.

Long before wolf pups learn to hunt, they learn to watch, tucking in close together, wide-eyed, taking in every sound and shadow. Never mind that “the neighborhood” is really just a rock and their siblings. Never mind that the biggest threat on patrol so far has been a beetle. What they lack in jurisdiction, they make up for in commitment, and in that irresistible way only baby animals can pull off, looking fierce and adorable in the very same breath.

But underneath the self-importance is something sweeter: the instinct that no one should ever watch alone. It’s the same instinct we recognize in our own families, our own circles, the people who show up for us without being asked.

This drawing is a little love letter to that particular mix;
equal parts devotion and delusion of grandeur, and utterly inseparable either way.
